Three possibilities;

Make sure you jumped the correct 2-wire pin (blu connector) usually connected to a dummy holder. Pinch and release to access.

Reset ECU by pulling BackUp fuse (7.5A) in underhood fuse box for 20 secs. Drive and see if codes return, then recheck for codes.

Pull back carpet on passenger foot area to expose ECU and TCU housing. There are windows in the housing that alow you to see LED's on the ECU when they flash. Turn keyswitch to On (no need to short service check connector) and read the red LED flashes. The two windows are about midway, upper face of the housing, LH window is ECU and RH window is TCU.

good luck

Was keyswitch On when you were checking? If yes, then ecm may indeed be bad. Make sure power is getting to ecm; check BackUp fuse in underhood fuse box.

good luck

The leds are not in the window but on a circuit board perhaps 1" below the window. When led flashes you can see it through the window. If you saw nothing then it wasn't flashing.

good luck

here is a little more info when the check engine light comes on if you turn off the car and restart the light goes away for about a mile and comes back on. and if your turn the car off again it goes off and comes back on after a mile. now the smog place says it has high hc's at idle and at 1500 rpm's.

Did you reset the ECU and try to extract codes by shorting service check connector when the code returns?

Don't know why there are no LED's. I thought all the 90-93's had them, but maybe they discontinued the LED's at some point. They are redundant to the primary code extraction method.

good luck
