94 accord 2.2 auto trans 4dr

Default 94 accord 2.2 auto trans 4dr

I bought a car that that I was told had main seal out of trans.I took trans out and discovered it wasn't main seal but had hole rubbed in transmission case by the gear selector cable.I bought another junkyard transmission installed it thought all went well until I drove it. The car goes into gear perfect but won't shift automatically u have to shift manually to second then third slips and fourth also slips.the speedometer don't work either.I have never driven car before so I don't know about why trans went out.cel code 17 vss I have one in way from eBay. ???

Check for any codes from TCU. D4 light should blink these codes, same flash sequences as ECU codes.

No codes from d4 but the abs flashes 18 code

aligning the torque converter incorrectly have any effect on shifting ?

I don't see an 18 on the TCU/D4.

Try reading the codes again, can be a bit tricky.

Possible that you have a 10 and 8?

10- ECT, would think the ECU would thow a 6 as well.

8- Shift B on trans.

Hi poorman , thanks for your help.I'm positive the cel was 17 and tcu/d4 didn't give any codes.the abs light was blinking , I guess that was a 18 code if it gives codes? Is there two separate computers cel/tcu ?

Note, ABS codes are slighlty different that OBD1 codes. The codes are only short flashes w/o long flashes for 10. So 1-8 would be one short flash, short pause, 8 short flashes. There is a 1-8 code for high pressure system fault, which could be a failed accumulator (possible fault oring seal), changed relief valve set pressure (unlikely but possible), rear outlet solenoid valve late to close (slow?), or changed pressure switch set pressure. Used ABS modulators are readily available. I would check the accumulator oring seal. A shop manual is essential for this work.

Transmission faults (hydraulic symptoms for failure to upshift) are all pretty much not fixable; modulator valve stuck, 1-2 shft valve stuck, clutch pressure control valve (CPC) stuck. This sound likely for a trans that may have sat for years before being salvaged. Sorry.

It might be time to try some auto trans additives, not much downside.

I haven't tried additives yet.do you think a used computer and vss would fix it? I also remember the water isn't circulating because the hose that goes to the back of motor doesn't get warm.could the trans be in limp mode?

Does the D4 light turn on when you put the car into D4?

If you mean the green light around d4 then yes , but when I do the codes there's no blinking light.I drove car yesterday and when I applied some braking while shifter was in d4 it shifts from 1stto 2nd and then to 3rd but it's slipping.its almost like putting car into neutral when it shifts to 3rd.
