Default 94 accord ex auto wont shift correctly

have a 94 accord ex vtec with auto trans... just swapped out the motor last week and car runs great but doesnt seem to shift right.....first when i go from park to drive i feel it shift then i have to tap the gas a little to get it to go to first then everything is fine but thats not really my problem.... it seems like it is not staying in second gear as long as it should and goes to third kinda quick at like 30mph then i try to floor it to get it to go back to second and it just stays in third gear till it gets enough speed to go to fourth.... i tried to tighten the tv cable a little and it seems like its skipping second completely now not sure whats going on.... one thing is when i very first got the car running i didnt realize someone removed the fuse for the trans computer and i was tryin to drive it up and down my driveway to figure out why it wouldnt shift could that have messed something up driving it without the fuse in there.... all other gears seem fine just shifts from 1st to 2nd early then right to 3rd... any help would be great

Check for trans codes. Some codes don't cause D4 light to flash.

Suggest adjusting the TV cable to move transmission lever arm at same time as throttle plate begins to move. This has great influence on shift quality.

Also a drain/replace w/ Hondat ATF Z1 or new Honda ATF may help. You can still find Z1 on ebay (now discounted!).

good luck

Check the fluid level. Then properly adjust the throttle cable, download a manual for the proper adjustment.

We'll assume everthing was fine before the engine swap,,,,correct.

EDIT: Slow typing....It does seem like TX and I are on the same page with thi one. One more, alo assuming the mounts are good, heck you had the engine out so they must be.

ok i adjusted the cable a little more and it seems to hold second a lot better now doesnt shift to third too quick like it was but still have a little prob when im driving and i go to slow down for a turn or something and then get back on the gas it doesnt always downshift back to second unless i slow down to under 20mph even if i floor it it will just stay in third until it picks up speed to go to fourth..... i know i need a front motor mount for sure just didnt have the money at the time to get one....also the male end of my speed sensor plug came off so i just plugged the prongs from inside the plastic piece into the female end but no sure if it matters as to which wire goes to which my speedo and everything works fine d4 light doesnt flash or no check engine light...... i did refill it with dex 3/4 from advanced after i swapped the motor out ill have to get some z1 and drain and refill

There are some transmission codes that don't cause the D4 light to flash. Like Poorman said, you should check them just to be thorough.

sorry for the late reply but i tried to check the codes but looks like my cel doesnt work at all and the d4 lights doesnt blink either when i jump the connector under the glove box so not sure what else i can do i know they guy i bought the car from put another gauge cluster in it and also the rpm gauge doesnt work right all the time sometimes it wont even go over 2500rpm and i know the motor is way past that..... anybody have another way i can get the codes without paying someone or counting the cel..... also i have noticed that when i first take off in the morning when that car is coldit will skip second gear completely and go right to third but once it warms up it is fine shifts second no problem and doesnt shift too early like it was......one more thing when i first take off its kinda slow and then feels and sounds like something kicks in and car takes off it does have a cold air intake and no cat and bumblebee muffler (exhaust wasdone by previous owner) but im sure its not vtec becasue it does it at about 2300-2500 rpm
