Default 94 Accord EX dies then won't start?

Hello! First and foremost, thanks for all your help in advance!

What I've got... 94 Accord EX VTEC, 190k miles. I just purchaced it within the past couple weeks and haven't driven it much. Recently, I started it up, put it in gear, then it died... it took about 5 times of trying to restart it before it started again, I could rev it up and everything without problem, then put it in gear and it died. Again it wouldn't start for 5 times or so, then started up. It will even die sometimes when not putting it in gear. No check engine lights or abnormal smoking or gas smell or anything out of the ordinary.

I've changed the plugs, wires, cap and button, but the problem persists. I'm aware of the classic Main Relay problem, and this really kind of feels like that, with the only exception being that it dies while running. Can a main relay failure cause this? If not, what else should I look at? Thanks!

The MFR problem usually happens with a warm to hot interior. MFR may be at fault, but I suspect your fuel pump. Please put "'94 EX 2dr 5spd" in your signature for future posts in case this thread gets to multiple pages. Also, look in the DIY section for fuel system troubleshooting.

It is manual.

I'm going tocheck spark on it here shortly... it defintely sounds like a fuel issue, but it's always good to find out for sure. One thing to mention... when I changed out the plugs, they did smell like gas...

if you put it in gear with your foot on the clutch does it stay running?

were they fouled (black)??? also, please make sure that the info that I put for you to copy and paste is correct and put it (or corrected version) into your profile signature. I have a feeling that this thread may take a couple of pages.

Also, if you seriously suspect fuel save yourself some headache and get a fuel pressure guage, hook it up and then see if just before the car dies the fuel pressure drops off.

sounds like an issue with the clutch not being released if it dies when he puts it in gear. Check your clutch fluid and master/slave cylender for leaks. go under the car and look at the linkage between the slave cylender and the clutch toggle thingy and have a friend push the clutch. Does it move?
