I cleaned out the tb today, behind the plate it was dirty as could be. On the distributor cap the center little button thing not sure what its called but reminded me of flint stuck when I first pushed it in. also the spark wire connecting to the distrubutor cap was pulled out some not sure why. after all this the cel still came on and I still had alittle trouble with idling but i havent got to drive it to much today.

CEL can take a couple driving cycles before it clears, depending on what the error was. Cleaning up (or replacing) the distributor cap is good.

Save yourself some cash and pull you cap off and with a flathead scape off the carbon build up on the contacts. Replace your wires, clean battery trems, and if its a starter issue try taking the back end of your jack handle and tap the stater a few times.

I had a issue like this about a year ago and couldnt figure out the issue either. Took the head off, replaced timing belt, got another ECU from junk yard, all failed. I ened up hae a mech (20 years exp) look at it he was baffled as well, Anyhow it ended up just bein a dirty injector.
