Hello Everyone!

I desperately need help finding my oil leak.
I have a 1994 Honda Accord CC7, with a F20Z1 engine.
This is almost identical to the F20A4 engine used in the CB accords.
The car is a 5 speed manual with 365,000 KM on it.

Now, my problem is as follows. The car loses 1 liter/quart of oil every 100 km.
So I top off my oil, drive for 2-3 days, my dipstick is almost dry.

So far i've changed

1) Valve cover gasket and spark plug hole gaskets, both on VC and under rocker arm assembly
2)Oil Pan gasket
3) Distributor O ring
4 Valve Stems and Seals when rebuilding the head
5) Headgasket
6) Cam, balancer and Front seals when doing TBelt and water pump
7) Oil pressure swtich. Although I did not use hondabond HT on the threads.

As it stands now, the back side of the engine is soaked with oil. All from the intake manifold to the pan. There is also noticeable amount of oil on the transmission.

This leads me to believe that it's either the Oil Pressure switch that's incorrectly installed or the Rear main seal.

Some have suggested it's the oil control rings, but would that not smoke and smell if such an amount of oil was to enter the combustion chamber?

Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.

 

nobody has ever had such a high loss of engine oil in my experience. 1 qt oil / 62 miles - wow.
Suggest your solution will be observation based right there 'on the ground.'
Probably underneath the engine; massive leak.

You really couldn't burn that much oil and your car still run, imo. Luck.

 

The fact that I have to add a jug of oil every time i fill the tank and that only lasts for 400 km is undoubtedly a sign that it is NOT burning it.

 

Is there a way you could have access to a lift, or a pit, so you could observe the engine area while the car is running?
If so, best to get things as clean as possible in advance.

With that much oil exiting the engine, it should be visible.

So far im suspecting pan gasket (improper torque/no sealant) and Oil pressure sender.

 

Is the F20 a vtec engine? If so, inspect the vtec solenoid for leaks.

 

No it is not.

 

If the area directly under the distributor cap is covered w/ oil, you could have leaks by the distributor internal shaft seals. Oil drains from low point on distributor (open for this possibility).

If there is oil above the intake manifold level, then it's leaking from valve cover despite a new gasket (warped valve cover or improper installation of gasket).

This much oil leakage should be easy to trace back to source w/ dye additive.

That type of oil loss with the fact that your engine is soaked with oil means a leak. If your engine consumed that much oil you would look a James Bond smoke screen travelling down the road. Also the fact that the intake manifold is covered with oil would leave to believe its coming from the upper half. If you can clean it down then add a dye as suggested above and then run the engine, the source should be easily found. My guess would be from the distributor or sending unit.

One more question. When installing a new oil pressure switch, is it neccessary to use liquid gasket on its threads?
I don't think i did this when replacing....
