Default 94 Accord vtec drives fine, dies at a stop

I just got a 94 Accord EX that drives fine, but if I am driving +20 and come to a complete stop the RPMs dump to 0 and the car sputters and dies. It starts right back up and then will idle at the stop fine.

Been researching and it might be my IACV, anyone have a pic or write up?

Yes, go here: https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...threads-40780/

Scroll down to the 5th gen section and there is a link.

Thanks, I pulled the IACV off and the hole with the screen was very clogged. I cleaned it up and put it back on and I still have the same problem. Any other ideas? And no CEL.

Might try letting it "re-learn" idle - there is a write up in that same section I linked you to.

Can we assume the tune up items are up to date.

IACV movement and entry/exit ports needs to be cleaned.

Also clean both sides of throttle plate and bore.

Base idle may need to be reset to 550 +/- 50 rpm.

good luck

Do you mean the entry/exit ports on the TB? I cleaned the IACV but I should of done a better job. When I pulled it away from the TB I noticed alot of gunk built up on the screened hole. I thought that if I got rid of that it might fix it, so I will have to remove the IACV and clean it up real good.

Yeah, if there's gunk there, you can probably assume there's similar gunk through the IACV itself.

Over in the DIY section there's a post about setting the base idle & having the system re-learn the idle.

I went and read up on the procedure to set base idle and re-learning the idle. I just went out to my car and cannot find the screw. Anyone know where it would be on my 94 EX?
