Check for engine and transmission codes. The common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum has a link to read CEL codes for your car. Post any codes on here

Did you check the transmission fluid level?
Any recent work done on your car?
Does the gear selector light in the cluster switch from P, to R, D4, etc. when you move the gear selector?

I have checked the fluid its fine. The R,N, lights work but not all the drives lights work when shifted. I did have a gear shifter changed in my car the button to the shifter stayed pressed down for a cpl days before i realized that it was stuck down.... Thus it was pressed when i shifted in any gear. I also need cv axles someone told me they cld be popped out a little. Today i am checking all fuses and hopefully cleaning the solenoid

Keep in mind you need a good bulb for the D4 position, as it's a sort of check transmission light for the AT, and is used for code reading. The other D- bulbs can be out, but that one (D4) does need to work.
