'94 EX, Anti-Lock Brake / ABS Light
Hi all -
I've got a '94 EX wagon, 5-speed. Somewhere around 170k on it. Here's what happens:
First time I drive the car on any given day, ABS light is off. If the car sits for more than 5 hours, ABS light stays off. If the car sits for less than 5 hours, there is a good chance the light will turn on when starting the car and stay on.
It doesn't seem to matter how long I drive the car - the three hour drive from Los Angeles to Fresno it stayed off the entire time. Got gas, started back up, light is on.
The five minute drive to work it was off. Dropped of some papers, headed out again, light is on.
Yesterday, the car sat about three hours between Drive #1 and Drive #2. When I started the car for Drive #2, the light was on. I mashed the brake pedal and it went off and stayed off. Haven't had success with that "technique" again.
I have not pulled codes yet - does the light have to be on for codes to be present, or will it store past codes?
I don't think it's a wheel sensor, or it would come on when driving. I'm thinking computer or pump? Anyone seen anything similar? Most the posts I've found by searching (and it's hard to search for "ABS") are about a light that is always on, or comes on after driving. Has anyone had any success with a full brake fluid flush? That helps a lot of older Bosch systems, I know.

chk the fluid in the abs reservoir ,i have seen a lot od modulator leaking from 94-97 ..if it is full you might try to bleed the abs system .. but best is to get the code and diagnose it
do not bother flushing the brakes it will be a waste of time

ABS DTCs... from the Integra I used to own. I'm pretty sure Honda used the same set of codes for the Accord.
1 - ABS pump motor over-run
1 2 ABS pump motor
1 3 high pressure leakage
1 4 pressure switch
1 8 high pressure system
2 1 parking brake
3 1 pulser RF
3 2 pulser LF
3 4 pulser RR
3 8 pulser LR
3 12 different diameter tires
4 1 wheel sensor RF
4 2 wheel sensor LF
4 4 wheel sensor RR
4 8 wheel sensor LR
5 - rear wheel lock - R/L
5 4 rear wheel lock - R
5 8 rear wheel lock - L
6 - fail-safe relay - F/R
6 1 fail-safe relay - F
6 4 fail-safe relay - R
7 1 solenoid - RF
7 2 solenoid - LF
7 4 solenoid - R
8 1 ABS function
8 2 CPU comparison
8 4 IC self-check
Information for other people...
Beginning about 1998 there's a whole new ABS system without it's own fluid reservoir. That one has a different set of codes.
