95 accord lx antifreeze help please

Default 95 accord lx antifreeze help please

I have a 1995 accord lx and i want to drain all the antireeze out and refill it. Does anyone know how much antifreeze this car holds so know hw many gallon jugs i should buy. Please let me know.

It's in the owners manual; I think it's a bit less than 2 gallons. But you cannot drain out more than about 5 or 6 quarts.

So if you just drain & fill, you should mix your 50/50 stuff ahead.

If you want to rinse it out, here's what I do:
Set the heater temperature lever all the way to HOT.
Remove the thermostat & bolt the T-stat housing back together.
Drain & fill with clear water then run engine for 15 or 20 seconds to mix it.
Drain & fill again, keep repeating until the water comes out clear.
At some point you should be using distilled water for the last couple cycles.

When you're happy that it's clear, put the T-stat back in and add antifreeze in the amount of 50% of your total capacity. That would be somewhat less than 1 gallon. Then fill the remaining space with distilled water.

Bleed out the air using the bleed-valve at the T-stat housing. And fill the overflow bottle.

I would only put distilled water in the cooling system if youre only temperarily going to flush the system. Its only 99 cents or so per jug. Tap water has minerals which corrode metal and hoses.
