96 Accord LX bucks under acceleration
Hey everyone,
I tried to search the forum for my issue, but couldn't find anything. Anyways... I have a 96 Accord LX 2.2L (non-V-TECH) with about 380KM on it. Recently she's been having troubles on start up and needs to be cranked over a few times before she fires and catches (its not cold enough yet for this to be an issue)... today I went to go pass somebody and when it hit about 3000RPM she started bucking wouldn't accelerate.. I of course let off and backed off.. I tried to repeat the scenario and sure enough as soon as I press hard on the gas, the engine will buck and not accelerate... I'm not sure if the hard cold starts and the bucking are related... but I was thinking maybe a spark plug issue (but I'm not confident in that because the car runs great when accelerating normally and under normal drivin and at idle). Any other clues that I can check out? Thanks.

380k km? How are all the normal tune-up things? Spark plugs? Wires? Distributor cap & rotor?

I'll be honest, I've never changed any plugs, caps/rotors, plug wires in that car...
As far as the rest of the car is concerned - it does get regular maintenance as far as oil changes, coolant flush, etc.
I called up a friend, and he suggested maybe the ignition coil perhaps?

Hey!
An update on the situation, if anyone else runs into this issue. I changed the plugs, wires, cap and rotor and the issue is no longer!
I suppose this could have been avoided if I had done regular maintenance on it...
