Cool 97 Accord AC Question

Seems like my AC system should be blowing a little colder air.

Bought a can of 134a, and the attachment with the hose and gauge.

After putting the can in, or most of it the low side pressure is running about 25 psi.

Not sure but it seems a little low to me. After recharge, air might be a little colder but not much.

Any ideas on full system rated low side psi?

Thanks

The system will reach acceptable low side pressures (25-30 psi) before complete fill. There are some guidelines for charging based on pressure reference alone, but they require both high and low side pressure readings and ambient air temperature.

Best way to charge is to remove all charge, vacuum, and re-install full charge by weight (about 24 oz for your vehicle, charge level is stated on an underhood label). This is what a shop usually does.

good luck

it is a good idea to get both the low and the high side readings , it would help you diagnose it better .. also chk the heater cable for proper adjustment..and make sure that the heater **** is not cracked

a/c pressures differ depending on ambient temp and humidity. , 25 on the low side is about normal ,,

When testing for vent temp use fan on low and recirculate setting, for about 5-10 minutes.
At 25 PSI low side you should be getting around 45-50 degree vent temp. [ambient temp?]
here's a link to the chart;

Just for grins and giggles I usually pinch off the heater hose at the firewall to see if the temp changes.[that tells you if the heater valve is closing all the way]
