Default 97 accord ex engine removal

I am replacing the 2.2 v tech in my 97 accord ex. Is it possible to do this without removing the auto transmission? If so can someone give me some advice on how to go about this? I think I have all the engine mounts apart and all of the trans to engine bolts out and also the flexplate bolts from the flywheel but i can't get the engine to seperate from the trans. Please help me. Thanks

its far easier just to pull it with the tranny attached, and then mount it to the new motor outside of the car, will save tons of time and aggravation

Yeah i was just about to say that.. Saves a big headache.. And its better to assemble it out of the car. Just get a good engine hoist.

will be easier to take the axles out than to have to disconnect the transmission then have to reconnect it with it in the car

This is my first honda and my first time doing an engine. Thanks for your input. I have been posting on other honda forums with no avail and I'm getting answers with my first post on here. Now this is what I'm talking about. Thanks again
