97 accord/should I change my oil?
Someone told me, that since the oil in my 97 accord hasnt been changed in so long, that it wouldnt be a good idea to even change it.. He said it could mess up my tranny. Anyone else got anything to say about this?

I am going to try and decode your message...
Ah, you mean the transmission fluid?
Your transmission fluid has not been changed in a while and someone told you that changing it could be bad.
Am I getting this right?
Well that is not true, might have been true on some old neglected farm truck 40 years ago but not true today.
You should drain and fill your transmission using genuine Honda Fluid ASAP, repeating it 3 times total is best.
You really want to avoid neglecting your transmission, they have been known to fail suddenly. Wanna know how I know?

I have a 97 Accord 2.2 liter, AT and change my transmission fluid once a year. I think it would be a good idea to change your fluid, and if you do it yourself it only costs about 25 bucks for 3 quarts.
It is very easy to do actually. There is a drain bolt at the bottom side of the transmission facing the passenger side tire. A 3/8 ratchet fits in the square bolt hole drain plug.
I just did my Accord last week, and make sure you use 3 quarts of Honda fluid only. Also found out there is a new Honda AT fluid called DW-1, that is synthetic.
182K on my Accord with no shifting problems.
Good luck!

I did a drain/fill on my 97 using DW-1 a few months ago; no issues so far. The car now has over 151K miles and had seen 86K miles between AT drain/fills. I'll be doing D/F's more often now that I know how easy it is.
