97 Accord won't start...ugh

No, I don't think so. Extensions and deep sockets reduce the torque you get from an impact wrench, but not for a WRENCH.

I've only used the old torque wrench a few times although it's 7 years old or so. I do try to release the spring but maybe I forgot at some point. I can't see a normal size extension affecting much unless it is not kept straight. Either way, I used the same socket and extension with both wrenches.
