98 accord ex trans problems plz help
I have a 98 accord that the auto trans is slipping something terrible.. i was just going to replace it but i saw the prices of used transmissions.. I found a 96 accord auto whole car wrecked in the rear for about 300 less than a 98 trans.. I was wondering how bad the swap would be for the trans? and what all would have to be changed.. harness..ecu what? Or if someone knows where theres a cheap 98 trans at that would be great... Thanks for the help

it should be a easy swap. the 98-03 accords are known for auto trans failure if you didn't know. Me personally I would stay away from them. But I understand sometimes it just can’t be avoided. I would personally look into a 5speed accord or a 5speed swap if you can have the down time for the swap.

Yea i realized that but i came across the car cheap... and you dont think there will be any big problems that will have to be modded? for the 96 swap into the 98? and I am also checking into the 5spd swap.. waitin on a guy to email me and let me know if he still has the parts... O and you have any suggestions on how to get the drivers door open? Is stuck shut and i have the door panel pulled back and can see the handle is working and it appears to be unlocked.. you can hear it unlocking.. and the door still wont open.. and the door latch bolts in the jam so you cant take it out from inside the door.. and dont know how else to go about the problem?

First, I'm not much of an expert on auto-trannys.
But I think beginning in 1998 the whole way the engine ECU and the trans TCU talk to one another is completely different. For example the 96 trans will expect a physical cable from the throttle body down to the trans. In 1998 that's done with software.
So you might have to use the 1996 engine, ECU, TCU, wiring harness & everything. Lots of work & you probably don't want to downsize your engine from 2.3 down to 2.2...

Ahhh very good point Jim I didn't take that into consideration. So yes it might be little more complicated the I organdy thought Sorry to the OP. So at the point it might actually be easier to swap to 5speed so then you won’t have the wiring harness issues.
As for your door see if you can’t get a flat head screw driver around the latch while someone tries to open the door. Might just be suck and needs a little help. Or if you don't mind tryin...try some WD40 see if that will help loosen her up to open. It sounds like its bound shut and needs some force to open her. But I can't say for sure since I can’t see it. I had thos prob with my rear door but it ended up being the child safety was broke so I removed it completely and it solved the prob. I'm sure you front driver door
