98 accord vtec malfution 4000rpm limited
Hello im at the end of my rope here i put a motor in my 98 accord 2.3l vtec. I took my time hooked all 78 sensors up. Started it up and it wouldnt go over 4000 rpm. I have tried everything testing the selionod its fine, oil preasure switch fine, screen note plugged. I thought maybe since the motor sat for a while it might have slug in the rockers and lifters. So i took the rockers all apart and cleaned the tubes. I put air throught the rockers to check if the pistons would activate the midrockers they all worked. Then i took the oil pan off since there was a dent in it. The pick up tube was crushed.i thought that was it for sure not getting enough oil pressure to engage the vtec, but guess what still wont go over 4000 rpm. The only time it will go over 4000 is when you pull the pcm fuse and after 2 cycles it back, also when you first start the car it will go over once and it really has no power so please give me some help its been a year on this thing

On an OBDII car, you'll need a reader. Some places will do this as a free service (Autozone and a few others), if you go this route get the acutal code from them ("P and four digits...P0420 for example). Or there are some being sold that don't cost that much....I lean towards this as pulling the fuse (clearing the code), you can then go over the 4K but then it comes back.
