98 V6 Electric Loss?

At Pep Boys they may not have tested it at all, charged you for it, then told you it was fine knowing you would have to come back and pay them again for more work. They are notorious for crap like that.

Again, in phone book, go to an alternator and starter shop, or at least get a quote from them.

Good point, also a good idea. You might as well look for a good Honda Certified shop while you are at it. It's very easy if they have a websitecause usually on a website they will have an information section telling you how many certified techs they have, how long they have been doing business, etc.. The one I found had several techs with 20+ yeas of experience and one Master tech with like 30 years of experience. When I went to the shop they had certificates from Honda on the walls.

I would have to agree with Chio,, it sounds like a bad alternator,, You should have a shop do a charging system test..

It needs to be acting up though. If all the lights on the dash are off the alt is going to check good. (Dont ask me how I know) We've replaced hundreds of these v6 alternators, almost all of em make the whining noise when they are bad.

YEP,, been there done that...... those Delphi alternators are real good aren't they ??
