99 Accord engine Swap Photos
Here's how I did it in my garage without a lift just two hydraulic jacks and a Harbor Freight Engine Hoist. Two pictures are worth a thousand words. Once you remove the front sub frame you have more than enough clearance especially if you remove the upper plenum.
It's good idea to remove the upper plenum (30 minutes extra work at most) so you can ream out the egr port. It also a good idea to replace the t-belt on the donor motor it only takes an hour at most with the motor out. The one on there was a Gates so I assume it had already been changed. I also adjusted the valves with the motor out and dropped and cleaned the oil pan and put new sealant (no gasket just rtv) but it's so much easier to do with motor out plus I installed a new thermostat $8.00 and just five extra minutes. I did not replace the water pump because it spun well and appeared to be already replaced.
Unexpectedly hard things were replacing the 10mm screw from the back of the electrical box, loosening the rusty "bitch clamps" from the power steering lines. The 14mm bolts on the tranny mounts stripped. Make sure you loosen the front bolts for the radius rods before you try to remove them because I almost knocked the car of the jacks using a 3/4 inch breaker bar with six foot pipe to get off!!! Be careful with power steering cooler line on the right side of the subframe. You got to get them in before you reinstall the subframe. Those clamps are not going to come off and the new ones have to be tight. I was able to use regular clamps and they are holding.
