well, i see what you did by using the black wire as your ground. but anyway, there aren't two red wires. just one red wire and one red wire with a black strip. why don't you connect the clock connector, and backprobe(yes, the way you described backprobing was correct) the red wire with a long piece of wire and hold the other end of the wire to ground(like the negative battery post or any unpainted surface under the dash) with the key on engine off and headlights on. does everything work?

i thank the lord for making me bored today and searching the site for this forum. msteadley i have the same exact problem that you are having. and hondatechav6 i have done some backbrobing at the power and ground of connecter b on the cluster assembly, i also have no clock light so im going to test that connecter too, now i jsut need to get a damn dvom all i have right now is a mini 5 dollar test light [extremly handy] which has helped out alot :-D

 

Hi....thanks a lot!!! hondatechav6.....i did it and everything works now except the dimmer control (i don't care, just want my instruments lights).... can i use this as a semi-permanet fix until i find a multiplex at a good price?? Any circuit in danger using this fix??

I have a somewhat similar problem. I was fiddling around with my radio because it was loose from the dash while my key was on acc and it shorted something out. Now my dashboard lights don't work but the srs brake and seat belt and odometer lights work. My hvac lights don't work but the light lights above the buttons work. My taillights do not turn on or the side lights don't turn on when I turn the head lights on either. I checked all the fuses and they are still good. Has anybody had this issue?

Hey guys I'm having the same problem in my 02 EX v-6 but my glove box light doesnt work, the lights that are out are my gauges, climatem clock, stereo, and shift select lever. Please help me i was installing my poineer HU into the car and it was hooked up and worked fine when i ran the ipod cable through the back of the dah they all just went out. I checked all the fuses all 3 boxes and all the relays and cant get them to work please help me.

 

Did you hook up the "dimmer/illumination" wire in the harness? I dont think 1998-2002 have the ability to operate the screen dimmer on aftermarket units, I hooked mine up and blew all sorts of fuses. Once I disconnected it it was fine.

Do I need to take the dimmer wire off from the after market stero before I install a drivers multiplex control unit?Before conecting the new drivers multiplex control unit should I dissconect the battery?I think that the control unit is out based on what I have read on these postes,my car stalls at random,their are no dash lights,only the drivers door unlocks hen remote is used,but when I use the keys on pasenger door both doors unlock.Any thoughts on used part from salvage yard or ebay?
