99 accord lx v6 starting problem..
I have a 99 accord lx v6. the problem i'm having is trying to start the car. It happens every other day. When I turn the key, it gives me the grinding nose but it won't start up. After a few min, if i'm lucky it will start up. Once it starts up, it runs perfectly fine. I have an viper 791 xv with auto start. I've been told that it could be an alarm issue. Can someone help me out. Thanks!!

It's possible, from your noise description, that the starter is turning but not engaging. Were it mine, I would have it checked out.

RE: 99 accord lx v6 starting problem..
Hi, Right now I am having exactly the same problem with my v6 1999. The mechanic has spent unlimited hours troubleshooting without success. He has replaced the battery and the alternator. The problem usually occurs when the car is seating for a long time in the sun.
I live in florida and the problem shows when the car seats for like 6 hours. The mechanic is planning to replace the main relay tomorrow and I am planning to take the car to the dealer as a next step because I am 100% sure that the dealer knows exactly where the problem is.
Have you solved your problem yet?

Hi, The problem similar to my car I ended up taking to the dealer. They replaced the main relay and the problem was gone. Everyone was guessing a different thing like gas pump, alternator, battery, etc. But this is it ... just replace the main relay.

The main fuel relay consists of two relays that rely on the position of the ignition switch and starter signal as an imput. The relay powers the fuel pump and the injectors (via the injector resistors) and sends a signal to the ECU. The clicks that you hear when you turn your key to ON are from that main relay.
