99 accord mis fire/egr issue.

Ok, more to the story....for now lets play "by the book" and check the 0401 code.
Can't remember but when checking the valves, were the ones on #3 out of spec. I'm begining to get worried that when the balancer "let go" the timing was thrown off in such a way that #3 might have slightly bent valves.
When checking the egr port, any chance you could get #3 to TDC and do a leak down test?

The timing might've been off since it was done back in November the ones who fixed everything said something was off by 3 teeth. But the cam gear came off with the balancer. But not sure when I went to do the valve adjustment, I decided not to due to the fact no timing marks on the PS pully. I couldn't find base lob center on any cyl :-(. That or every single one was way over tighten. There is however a slight noise I can't identify at very very very light gas pedal touch.

Too add, I'm still worried with the "egr flow" being an issue. I'm just saying that while you have the intake/plenum apart and things off the car, can't hurt to check the valves on #3......and the other cyl's as well.

Ya I know what you mean. Just didn't know the egr flow was that important never owned a Honda nor know much about them. But I plan on doing it this weekend but what I ment with the valves when I went to do them the feeler gauge didn't fit under any of them the. 26 didn't even slide under the exhauste. Which is supposed to be .30 so not sure what was going on so I just put everything back together till I could find physical help lol.

Yes, I agree to check the EGR passage for blockage;
When you look at that picture of the intake, the point circled mates to the plenum and thats where the blockage will be. [not on the intake manifold side]
I would strongly suggest a compression test and further diagnostics before replacing the engine.
