99 ACCORD V6 Cataclean Killed My Electrical System.
99 HONDA ACCORD V6 CATACLEAN KILLED MY ELECTRICAL SYSTEM.
At 6,000 feet in altitude and 10% ethanol added to gasoline here.
1. Added Cataclean to gas tank,
2. Topped off gas tank.
3. Restarted engine no problem and drove 1.5 miles to 7/11.
4. Restarted engine drove less than 1/2 mile home.
5. Turned off engine in garage.
6. Attempted to restart engine, but all power went off when attempting to turn over engine.
7. Waited about 3 minutes, slowly turned key to intermediate position, got power A/C came on and Radio on, all check engine lights came on then all warning lights turned off as normal. Turned off A/C, and attempted to turn over engine and all power went out again.
8. Repeated step 7 and got same results.
9. Waited 20 minutes, put key in ignition and turned key to intermediate position and got no power at all.
10. Repeated, 9 and got no power at all.
Please help.

Adding something to the gas tank may cause hard starting or rough running; but, not an electrical problem.
It is more likely an ignition switch or battery problem. Your year car sometimes had faulty ignition switches.

Battery was just replaced last year.
Battery is strong and pushing 12.7 Volts.
Ignition switch replaced in 2005 under warranty.
Attempt to turn on ignition switch produces absolutely no power to all systems.
Called Honda to determine if they will replace the ignition switch under warranty again, because of a faulty part was used to replace another faulty part.
Waiting for a call back from the Honda Service Manager.

I doubt that the cataclean would cause an electrical problem. Did you do any other work to the car other than adding cataclean?
I would disconnect the battery. Clean all ends of both battery cables with a wire brush. Then reconnect the terminals. Use a 10mm socket to get the clamps on the battery posts tight.

Ignition Switch Testing
With Ignition Switch Turned to On, Does this Graphic Indicate Continuity Between:
1. 1 & 4, 2 & 4, 3 & 4
or
2. 1 & 2, 1 & 3, 1 & 4
???
With Ignition Switch Turned to Start, Does this Graphic Indicate Continuity Between:
A. 1 & 5, 4 & 5
or
B 1 & 4, 1 & 5
???
Please help.
I find that I get continuity when switch is On, but when Switch is turned to Start, I lose continuity.
Both the old and new ignition switches produce the same testing results.

See this video, although it is for the 94-97 Accord, it should be a very similar testing.
