I was just wondering what exactly was covered with the recall for a 99 accord 4 cyl ex.....just got it done and still have a hard time turning the key. was that covered?

 

Doesn't look like it says anything about it being "sticky"...

Recall Date: 05/16/2002

Summary:
ON CERTAIN SEDANS, COUPES, HATCHBACKS, AND SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES, ELECTRICAL CONTACTS IN THE IGNITION SWITCH CAN DEGRADE DUE TO THE HIGH ELECTRICAL CURRENT PASSING THROUGH THE SWITCH WHEN THE VEHICLE IS STARTED.

Consequence:
WORN CONTACTS COULD CAUSE THE ENGINE TO STALL WITHOUT WARNING, INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.

Remedy:
DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH. OWNER NOTIFICATION BEGAN JUNE 14, 2002. OWNERS WHO TAKE THEIR VEHICLES TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON AN AGREED UPON SERVICE DATE AND DO NOT RECEIVE THE FREE REMEDY WITHIN A REASONABLE TIME SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009 OR ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238.

Nope, just covers the electrical part of the switch. There's also an ignition interlock recall, it wont fix your problem either.

Have you tried spraying a little wd-40 into the lock cylinder? Are you using an original key?

 

oohh! it's not the original key. i just had this one cut by honda hehe. i was using the spare one cuz they also put the transmittor on that key chain....original works fine. shd i ask them to recut another one? thx for reminding it me it wasn't the original, i completely forgot! lol

 

Try scraping the edges of the key, tiny burrs can cause them to hang up a bit. If that doesn't help, go back and have em recut it.
