abs reserve tank replacement

abs reserve tank replacement
hello,
i have a 94 ex that the ABS light has been coming on intermittently so i took it to the dealer ship for a diagnostic check
apparently the tank reservoir has a crack and its leaking or losing pressure.
i ordered the following parts from honda;
reserve tank
reserve tank cap
x-ring
base cap
they said its possible that air seeping into the system may have damaged the motor?
last thing, i'm looking at the schematic for the ABS Modulator it seems that the tank is held on by the X-Ring ( can't really tell if theres any screws ) and when i replace it will i have to bleed the brake system or will the ABS system need to be bled or both?
tks,lou

Did they write down what ABS code you got? It is pretty easy to check ABS codes.
In the common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum, you can open the online shop manuals link. From there, the honda-tech link has 94 manual you can download as a pdf for free. It will show you how to check abs codes. In the common diy thread, there is also a link on how to check engine codes that is basically the same procedure to check abs codes that you should check out.

If cracked reservoir is only problem, it's an easy fix. I believe it can be done w/o removing the modulator. Refill reservoir and you should be good to go. If you remove the modulator, you will need to bleed all 4 wheels.
good luck

Thanks Guys for your response,
The dealership checked the codes and determined that it was a cracked reservoir tank
So I had them write down the Honda part #'s for me so I could order them from Honda
I just wanted to know if I swap out the tank reservoir would the abs brake system need to be bled? Two different brake systems, right?
I retired from Honda and get the parts at cost
Tks,guy's

Yes, I would bleed the abs unit along with the rest of the system (each wheel). Please use the proper procedure when doing the abs.....but I'm sure you are aware of that, just wnat to be sure to state that for anyone else that might read this in the future.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thanks guys for you're responses! I'm going to change out he reservoir tank then take it in to bleed the system. Not sure about he ABS system being under a lot of pressure so I think it's best left to he pros.
