AC temp control knob won't go full cold
#11
Your temperature control **** is probably cracked (if the **** is the same as 4th gen). I learned, after breaking two *****, that if you turn the **** halfway (don't force it), let the cable free itself, then turn the rest of the way, you will not crack the ****. The cable flexes, and binds up, if you turn the **** too fast, but it will loosen if you release the pressure or turn the **** slowly.
does it just pull straight off? I never trust plastic.

Yes it pulls straight off. There is a metal band around the center part on the backside you might be able to slide off for better inspection of the plastic.
You'll be at the dealer for a new one. In my trips to the bone yard, the first thing gone are the *****.

It's hard to see the crack until you put the **** in a bind, and the crack opens. Pry it with a small screw driver, and you will see the crack. The secret to not breaking the ****, is to stop turning at the first sign of resistance, let it release the slack for a couple seconds, then turn the **** the rest of the way. I did it that way for years, and never broke another ****. I hope this solves your problem, good luck.
