Accessory Belt for 04 4 Cyl
Hey all,
I'm new to this Accord thing. Can anyone give me the lowdown on replacing the serpentine accessory belt, not to be confused with the Timing belt, which this car does NOT have one. I gather it has a timing chain instead which needs no replacement.
OK, so original question; wow difficult is it to replace the long serpentine accessory drive belt which turns the compressor, alt, etc? At what mileage should it be replaced? Does anything else need to be replaced at that time? Our Accord now as 89K miles on it. There's a little bit of squeekiness from that belt.
It looks to be a complete waste of time pain in the rear end. Is this so, or am I mistaken?

I forgot to add, the belt looks fine. I don't see any visible cracks. That space between the right wheel well and motor is so tight and lacking it's scary. Is there a diagram of this belt path? That might be helpful for me.

I looked in the parts drawings, & can't find a drawing of the belt. ??? Maybe there's one in the owner's manual? Or you may just have to draw a sketch before you take it off.
Pretty easy to change, look for the spring-loaded tensioner pulley. You need a wrench with a LONG extension. A pipe or another wrench locked end-to-end. Use the long wrench on the bolt thru the center of the pulley. Turn in the direction of tightening that bolt, but since the wrench is so long it swings the tensioner lever, loosening the belt.
