I'd say front fenders aren't really structurally very stiff, and they're bolted on...

But if the front structure is slightly bent, they might not notice it without detailed measurements. Not the normal measurements for suspension-alignment. Or they might not want to notice it...

if alignment is off then something is still bent ,also it sounds to me like the frame itself might be a bit out of specs ,( bent ) ,, I would not accept vehicle till everything is into specs and no more shaking ,,if these guys cannot fix it , take it to a different shop and send these guys the bill ( talk to your insurance company first about your dissatisfaction with the current shop )

This is where I am at now. The original shop was in CT. When I took it back there they could not find the problem. I now have it at a shop in the Bronx. If they say they can't find anything should i ask them to take detailed measurements of the frame? What would be my next course of action if they can not find the issue?

Contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint against the original shop.
make sure your insurance company knows about your dissatisfaction with the work done by this shop.

As far as the diminution of value goes: I could only give you a for sure answer if I had a copy of your insurance policy.

Just got off the phone with the insurance. They said they called the new shop I have it at and were told they can't find a problem and it is a "wear and tear". I asked well if it is wear and tear there must be a worn part and I want to know what it is. Insurance said all they said was "wear and tear".

So I'm gonna go down to the shop now and find out what the hell is going on. And I'm bringing my spare key because I will refuse to pay a diagnostic fee for this BS.

Make them admit something is wrong with the car. make someone ride with you and show them what you are talking about. Ask them what part is worn out.
That sounds like a load of BS from the insurance company.
If I were the adjuster, I would be able to tell you more than just "wear and tear" that's ridiculous. They probably told you it was "wear and tear" because "wear and tear" is not covered under most insurance policies.

Still not resolved. Why is it so hard to find a shop that is not full of scum bags? Is it because the insurance is paying they have to be dicks?

I found out the shop had to call the insurance so they can get a new adjuster sent out. I call the shop every other day for a week with response "I'll tell my boss to call today each time". Finally I ask to speak with the boss and he claims he was on vacation or something and says he will call them that day. So The next week I get a call in the afternoon "The adjuster is here, where are you?" Are you ****ing kidding me? You are going to call me when the guy is there with no advance notice. "I left you a message this morning". Bull****, no messages on home or cell phone.

He says he has to reschedule and I tell him to schedule for Monday. Have a gotten a call back yet about when he rescheduled? Nope.

WTF!!!!!!!!

Car is finally back in the shop. Apparently the adjuster went to see it today and OKd them to take it apart. I'm very excited/anxious to find out what the problem is and have my car like new again. Also hoping they don't try to screw me by saying whatever it is wasn't caused by the accident.

Will keep updated when I hear more.

OK. The shop said they are pretty sure they have found the problem.

The engine mounts were replaced with aftermarket mounts which are solid. Apparently OEM mounts are oil filled.

Conveniently the insurance adjuster is off for the day so they can't get the go ahead to do the repair until tomorrow. I hope they don't make me go back to the original shop in CT for it.....

Well, I realize I'm new here, but I'll chime in. I've been an insurance adjuster for about 5 years now and am very familier w/ this whole process. I can tell you that if your insurance policy fixed your car, they won't pay Dem of Value. Won't hurt to ask, but 99/100 it's not allowed under your policy. IF you went through the other guys policy, good luck proving DOV. I realize any normal person would buy a unwrecked veh vs. the same wrecked then fixed veh, however push-come-to-shove, DOV is VERY difficult to prove. Dealer quotes and such won't suffice for the Insurance Co. Some companies are paying DOV, others will make you prove your loss, which is virtually impossible. Lately, when it comes up, I have offered $500 to resolve the DOV claim, however we never agree we are paying directly for DOV. Sounds crappy, but it can be argued both ways.
Did you choose the shop, or was it the insurance companies "prefered" shop? We offer lifetime guarantee's at our "prefered" shops. These shops are not "hired" as previously said. They just work w/ us and our process. They don't get any discounts or special treatment. I can tell you we have MUCH happier customer's from our prefered shops verses joe's body shop down the street.
I agree w/ one post earlier. Make sure your car is repaired to pre-loss condition, vibrations, coolant, and all. You can ask the other guys insurance about DOV, but like I said, it's a bitch to prove. Ok, let me have it. On a final note, what you think and are happy with is much more important that what everybody else tells you. There are plenty of people that don't work in the body shop business or insurance business, that will push their opionions on you. Truth is Insurance comapnies have to be black and white with their rules because of all the insurance fraud out there. Wish things weren't that way, but that's the world we live in.
