Default Accord 2005 in car fumes ? help pls

I have posted this previously, but think in the wrong section (appologies)...so here goes again.

I am about to get a Honda Accord 2.2 I-CTDI Diesel. Manual Saloon.
It has hi mileage of 122k, at least for a 2005 model - but seems in generally quite good order.

One thing that was noticable was the in car smell.
It did smell of fumes, not burning oil.

On opening the bonnet, I could the same smell was at the rear of the engine (much stronger smell) - behind the engine. It did smell like exhaust fumes, and I have heard of manifold problems.

Can anyone point me towards any obvious reasons for this ?.

Also the car has a full service history, as such how many miles should I hope to get out of it?.

Thanks.

Reason is.. exhaust leaks and fumes get sucked into the cabin. Check exhaust flanges, gaskets, hardware..

Hi, no problem. When you enter a forum (topic area), there is a link to enter a new thread at the top left. Good luck.

I think there is a recall for this....there was another member that had the same issue and was able to get it done by the dealer.....Yes is was something with the manifold, I think.

Thanks for all the feedback, some good news today. Spoke to local dealer after purchasing the car today- they advised that they reported to the previous only that the manifold needed changing and as the fault it is coverage by the warranty and as the mileage was below 125k they would do this week foc. A result I think. Good when things come together. Again thanks for feedback all.
