Default Accord 2009 Major Maintenance

Hi,

I'm just trying to find out if it really worth getting 30,000 miles major maintenance service done from the dealer for my Accord.
They don't even install any major parts or anything and it costs about $400.

Is it something that I can get done without paying $400? just asking

Thanks

What gets done at 30K miles? That information should be in the owner's manual.

Following is the list that dealer emailed me.
I don't see anything big...I can check all the fluid levels and put more if needed. I have replaced the pollen filter few months ago. Oil change is not due yet.

"We change the oil and filter, rotate the tires, inspect the brakes, change all the brake fluid, replace the air and a/c dust and pollen filters, adjust parking brake if applicable, replace the front wiper inserts if factory blades, check and top all fluid levels, and perform a complete inspection on the vehicle"

So what is left is to rotate the tires, bleed the brake lines, change the wiper inserts, replace air filter, check fluids, check e-brake.

I think that those are items you can do on your own.

I wouldn't replace the wiper blades unless they are not cleaning the windshield properly.

Bleeding the brake lines may be the hardest item on the list. It is a good idea to replace the old fluid to avoid problems from moisture in the lines. We can give you more information on how to do this, if you want.

Replace air filter if dirty.

Would u please give me the info. About bleeding the break lines.

A problem i have been having is stearing wheel shakes when I brake specially on the freeway when I try to reduce the speed. Is it alignment problem or brakes??

Thank u

You may want to refer to this thread to help answer your original question about major maintenance:

https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...uestion-39556/

If you own an automatic transmission, I would recommend doing a drain and fill of the transmission the fluid at least every 30,000 miles (some even do it at every 15,000 miles) and not go by the maintenance minder.

For the steering wheel shaking on the highway when braking, that is most likely the front brakes. If you are still under warranty, they will resurface or replace the rotors and change the front brake pads to revised brake pads. See this TSB:

mordor.rutgers.edu/accord/tsb/08-10%20brake%20noise%2009-096.pdf

If you are not aware, the original rear brake pads do wear out fast, which there was a Honda brake settlement that has passed. However, the rear brake pads usually were not the culprit for the brake juddering you may be experiencing.

I have never changed my brake fluid on any car. Im sure others will say Im wrong, but it looks like brake fluid still. Im surprised this is recommended at 30k.

Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, and this makes it become more corrosive. This can happen without the fluid becoming visibly dark.

Should change it every 2 or 3 years regardless of miles.

@Redbull....U know..I was thinking the same that it could be front rotors, I have got the brake pads changed during the honda settlement.
Transmission fluid was changed 2 months ago.
so i guess the only thing needs to be done is brake fluid
