Default accord 98 stalls while driving at low speed

I have accord with 4cylinders, auto trans. 2.3L. I have visited this forum before with similar problem. When driving on the way the car switched off and all electrical system shut down but radio still working. I was told to check IACV؛ The problems maybe coming from there. Some weeks ago I gave it to the electrical expert, he told me probably the problem is ignition switch or ignition coil. I don't understand it all. He told me I will change some things in this ignitions. The mileage on the accord is 202,000 but still neat inside. What should i do? Please help. thanks

When it stalls, do all the warning lamps come on? Like oil, battery, "check-engine", etc.?

That sounds like a flaky ignition switch. It behaves the same way as if you had switched off the key. Can you get it to stall by wiggling the key?

If it were caused by a problem with the ignitor or distributor, the warning lamps would come on.

the electrical expert did wiggle the key and it stalls. I also believe the problem is the ignition switch. Anyway i will be replacing it tomorrow with another and then use the car for two days to see if it runs normally. If the problem were from the fuel pump, how do we diagnose it and what are the signs to look out for? THANKS

Fuel pump problem also would have lit up the warning lamps.

The lack of warning lamps indicates that the engine was "switched off" by a flaky switch. Just like you turning off the key, the warning lamps don't come on.

Honda recall is likely only in USA. I have no idea how that works for Rilex, in Nigeria.

Honda recall is only once. They replace with a new copy of the same switch, & same issues can come up after another few years. Then it's not covered because "it's already been fixed".

My former 98 had a recall for the ignition switch, but it was not for that problem. It was another issue that allowed the key to be removed while the car was running. Apparently US-DOT regulations require that the key cannot be removed while the car is running.

thanks to you all, I have replace the ignition switch with another one is no longer stalling and is cruising amazingly. The only thing i may decide to change later is the suspension[chock absorber] at the back which to use make noise when i passes through bumps. Sir, how can i get the key code to enable me duplicate the original one so as to have two key for starting the car in case the original key worn out. As at the time i bought the car no key code was provided. Hoping to hear from you soon. Thanks

The dealer should be able to cut another key for you. It will have to be programed for your car - not sure if any locksmiths have the tools to program the new key or not.
