Default Air Vent Issue - 2005 Honda Accord

All vents were blowing air (hot/cold), except the middle two vents. I took off the dash to access the the middle vents. After doing this I found the foam vent flapper was closed. I can either force the flapper open or closed. I left it open so that it would blow air out the middle vents, however because it is opened it is not blowing air to the floor. Suggestions please!

The common diy thread on top of the gen tech help forum has a link on how to check hvac codes. Do that procedure for your car and tell us what codes, if any, you get.

It's a problem with either the mode control linkage, doors or mode control motor.

Default Sticky AC Fan Mode Vent Controls

05 Accord with dual climate control. Had similar problem with center vents not blowing air. AC fan mode not redirecting airflow when selected. Ran diagnostic. Code showed short circuit AC Mode Control Motor. On this Accord the mode control motor is under the passenger side dash. Drop glove box out of the way as you would access the cabin filter. Two control motors will be in sight. One is for temp control mounted to the blower fan (right side in your view) and the other mode control motor (left side in your view - center console side). Both have white levers/armatures to move vents when operated. My problem was the white lever on the mode motor was bound up and stuck. Used screw driver to push the white lever forward towards front of car while pressing the mode on dash to free it up and that was it. Sticky equipment. Not a permanent fix but one that will get you by. Wife is happy and so a I.
