alarms being "heat activated"??!!
hey all - had an odd experience last night and i hope someone out there can relate to it a little, maybe have some input or something...thanks in advance...
so i recently bought my first Honda, first Accord, first lowered vehicle featuring my first aftermarket alarm. its a 92 Accord with 160k"ish" miles. I got it for $250 and it had been parked for about 2 years. anyway, last night while my boyfriend and i are watching tv, my siren goes off all of a sudden. he jumps up & goes downstairs - i go to balcony looking for someone running..or a cat or..something. but nothing. calm and quiet. weather was cold but still.
only thing we can think of is that maybe my keys/remote absorbed a small amount of heat cause they were laying on a table near our wall-heater-unit. honestly i wouldn't have even called them warm when i picked them up. is there some way a spark or short in the remote could have sent a signal and set it off??!!
anyone even heard of this kinda thing? or am i trippin and totally on the wrong page?? apprieciate your time..

Apparently I missed the the "Sharing information/Posting 101: How, Where & What May Be Included." part all together. I can't imagine how terribly trying it must be for members such as yourself are forced to deal with incorrectly catagorized posting of newbie types like myself. Thank you so much for enlightening me on my mistake.
But..um...wait..wasn't there substantial information within my post that did in fact address these things?? I swear there was a brief description of a) myself b) my relationship with Honda & c) my relationship with this vehicle specifically.
Hmm..i clearly messed up by having more content than just the meet's & greet's. My bad. I appreciate the heads up. Please let me know if you may have any useful advice regarding the actual focus of the post...my actual question...remember that part? Thanks in advance....

Sometimes even a fly inside a car can activate the alarm.. Are you sure there were no bugs flying inside the car ?

Thanks to everyone for their time and advice. It's still strange & I'm still a little puzzled by the whole thing. I took PA Honda's advice and took the battery down, it was good. My boyfriend walked me through cleaning the cables...so that's done. I guess its like the saying "No news is good news...". It hasn't happened more than the one time. Hope it stays that way..freaked me out going off at 4 in the a.m.!! No good!! Thanks again tho....
