alternator???
hi all,
i'm new here and looking for answers...
i have a 94 accord ex 5spd
the issue is i have a high pitch whine coming from the engine bay, and yes it does fluctuate with rpm, defrost on, lights on basically anything electrical.
Also i have a clicking noise coming from the passenger side. sounds like coming under the dash but fuse box is in the bay on that side aswell. the noise comes between accel and deccel under 2k rpm and when braking. when you hit the brakes the clock flashes (resets after car turn off and back on) and sometimes the the same happens with the radio but not as often
im pretty sure it's all due to the same issue due to it all started happening at the same time.
any thoughts? comments? ANSWERS
i've heard that the diodes in the alternator can cause at least the whine and didnt know if it could lead to some of the other issues
thanks for sharing

Well for the Whine noise you'll just need to OPEN THE HOOD, and rev the engine to try to locate the noise, sometimes a long screwdriver will help when you use it like a stethoscope. Alternator bearings can make whine noises too.
Then the electrical problem of the clock reset.....it's sounding like maybe a ground feedback from the brake circuit, or power loss from the back up fuse.
Clicking noise under dash.....go dash diving and find out where the noise is coming from.
