Default Antenna Help

Ok, so my antenna won't retract all the way down...I know there is a good write-up in the DIY section but can anyone tell me why these things don't retract? In other words, can you just disassemble the antenna and rebuild it or do you literally have to replace parts? If parts need to be replaced is it usually the mast or the motor?

Follow thru this link to the part about cleaning out the drive gear and turning the tension pin 180 degrees.

It definitely makes a ratcheting sound...when there is about 3 inches left for it to retract. Sometimes it fully retracts in warmer weather. Also, I've read that antenna link but I first need to know whats broken so I can order parts if necessary.

I just removed the antenna/motor by using HondaDudes DIY http://members.troublecodes.net/hond...-97antenna.htm . All i did was rebuild the motor and clean out all the teeth...good as new. The only thing I did different was I pulled the antenna in through the trunk along with the motor instead of disconnecting it and pulling it through the top.
