Default Anti lock brake question

I have a 97 accord 2.0 V6 with 97K miles. I'm have a noise in the motor compartment where the anti lock sits. You wont hear it all the time but it'll start to "buzz" for a lack of better word the the brake light on the dash light up. I haven't had any problem out of the brakes as fare as in stopping. I've check all four wheels and the brakes look great, so does everything else. I haven't checked for codes yet,I would have to do it manually because our snap-on scanner doesn't have the software.

I'm hoping someone here has run into this and can give me a heads up. Everything on the car is genuine honda so.....

The ABS light can be checked the OBD1 way. In the common diy thread on top of the gen tech forum, there is a link on how to check engine codes. You will do the same thing, except count the ABS light.

The abs gives a main code and a sub-code, so you can get a code 3-4.

Be sure to check the fluid level in the brake AND abs res. Then bleeding the abs might be needed.....if you have NO codes.

Yeah I have the same Gen accord and there is a seperate resavour for the ABS system. A buzz when u hit the breaks usually means its low. My Chevy truck did it all the time till I pull the fuse. It was annoying. I disabled my ABS cause of winter driving conditions where I live.

Pull the cap off the reservoir. There may be a small restriction insert in the top of the reservoir. You should be able to see fluid level inside by simply shining a flashlight on one side of reservoir and observing other side.

good luck

Get ABS code as instructed, and there's plenty of help here to decide on repair actions.

Good news is that even if modulator can't be repaired, you can find used modulators for $25-$100 all day long; car-part.com and ebay. Replacement is easy w/ 10mm flare nut wrench to loosen hydraulic tubing nuts.

good luck
