Automatic trnsmission problem ( 1st gear slipping )
Hello all this is my first post here.
I am having a problem with the automatic transmission in my 1993 Honda Accord. The problem is that the motor can easily rev up to 5,000 rpm and the car moves very slowly in first gear. I would describe the problem as "slipping in 1st gear and too high rpm compared to ground speed, again only in 1st gear.
2nd, 3rd, 4th and reverse gears work normally. The car has no problem running at freeway speeds. This problem started about a week ago (250 miles), and has gotten worse each time I drive the car. The problem started as a mildly erratic 1st to 2nd gear shift.
Things I have checked
Fluid level-normal
Fluid color-light pink, a little off color(tannish)
Shift cable adjustment was checked and not needed
D4 light does work, and does not blink.
Please advice! I have mechanical skills and tools so where should I start? I prefer to research this before I have to resort to a transmission shop. The car is parked now and I will not drive it until fixed, except as needed for repairs.
I will be sure and update this thread when I know more. Thank you.

RE: Automatic trnsmission problem ( 1st gear slipping )
Deserthonda , I will put line pressures on my list.
Update: I found a article here at http://techauto.te.funpic.org/transmission.php
I reset the TCU by disconnecting the battery and voila!! the transmission shifts fine now!
What a relief. I can do an electrical repair. Do I need a new TCU and how much should I expect to pay?
I need to read the rest of the write up and will post back later.
