Default Back Seat - Center Console Fabrication

I'd like to remove the plastic insert that holds the back seat center console locking tray in place.

Why: I want to fit a couple snowboards through there.

I have a 2006 Honda Accord Sedan. Has anybody done anything like this?

Are you sure there isn't a pass through on it? My 99 has a cover you can take out to fit stuff through there, like snowboards.

I can fit snowboards in my car without passing them through the seat... my 157cm is pretty long and fits in there many ways...

I'm going off to lunch... maybe I'll take a pics if I can remember.

I have a 155 and I've tried to get it in the trunk, but not happening.

The goal is to get 3+ snowboards in my car without putting the backseat down. If only one side went down that would have solved everything.

Of course I could add a roof rack and get 4 boards up there, but that makes too much sense. I'm looking for the budget & DIY way first.

So 3+ snowboards... are the riders going to be in the car as well? I can slide on end of the board under the seat and then rest it on the back seat... like this: FS / BS I bet I could fit 4 boards in the back like that if I had too.

Yep, the riders would be in the car.

So, I'd basically be opening up the hole like that, minus the subwoofer.

I'd just double check to make sure there isn't a pass through... there has got to be one. Isn't there a latch and door when you fold down the armrest? Otherwise if there isn't, I'd start dremeling it away with a cutting wheel and there will just be a hole back there when the armrest is down.

I didn't explain very well. There is a pass through. It's just not very large.

The pass through system (with the locking mechanism) sits inside of a larger overall plastic tray - which is attached to the wooden backing of the seat.

I'd like to remove the entire plastic tray to make it a gaping hole.

Ah, much better! Look at the carpet on the backside... it may be attached to the seat with plastic plugs. If you can pull the carpeting back, you may be able to see how the pass through frame is connected to the seat. My guess is a few screws on the backside of the seat.

Sweet, I'll give a try.

Thanks!

BTW, do you have snow up in your neck of the woods yet?
