battery issue, high pitch noise then smoke - 2000 accord se
Hi! I have a 2000 Accord se. Last week I had the blower for my ac/heater replaced (going out). This week it makes a different type of odd noise - even when off ( sounds almost like the old heat radiators hissing in the house). Then the car wouldn't start on Friday (jumped). Battery, alternator, and starter were fine (told I probably left something on). Sat still hard to start - but started. Today I was sitting in the car while it was running (waiting for rain to stop). Heard a loud noise under hood (driver's side), then higher pitch, then smoke just outside windshield - driver's side and coming through vents.
Car has over 200,000 miles. Timing belt and water pump changed twice. Has had the usual and regular maintenance.
Thoughts?
Thanks!
Patty

well Patty ,,I don't know if you are mechanically inclined or not,, if you have done this yet or not , but ,, the first thing that i would do is to open the hood and see what is going on,,,,
chk the belts, and anything else that might look odd..... possibly something seized up ?? alternator?? a/c compressor ?? ,It sounds like a belt issue to me
How long ago was t-belt done??
but first things first open the hood and look at the belts

2000 accord se issue
Hi!
Thanks for responding. I did open the hood to see if I could find where the noise and smoke were coming from. No luck (didn't help it was pouring out). Belts and water pump were changed around 195,000 miles. Had it in the shop on Friday and was told the battery, alternator, and starter were fine. I plan to get it back in the shop this morning if they can get it in. I did get it home with no problem (~8 miles).
Any thoughts on why the battery would drain? Noticed when the AC is left on when the car is off - harder to start - so I now turn it completely off. Could it drain the battery?
Thanks again!

Thanks - 2000 Accord se
Thanks for the warning!
They installed a new starter. It started fine this morning (so much for it being ok on Friday)! They couldn't get it to make the noise again (and no smoke as well)! Belts were fine.
The noise from the blower motor still makes noise (almost like the radiators in older homes). They said it was normal. The one they replaced didn't do it. Still trying to figure this one out!
Thanks again to all for responding!
