Default Brake Fluid Change Necessary?

Hello Forum Folks,
I bow to those with more knowledge than I. Do I really need to have the brake fluid changed after 3 years in a 2003 Accord with ABS? That's what the maint sch says so I'm set up to have it done but I just had never heard of this.
Thanks

Yes you should. Brake fluid is hygroscopic......it absorbs moisture and does wear out over time. Folks think it's a "forever" fluid but it is not.

That is correct. The brake fluid breaks down due to the heat that it is exposed to when you brake. Your fluid will get dark as it breaks down. If it is cloudy it has water in it. Remember that the brakes are the most important part on your car. Never neglect that system.

ABS systems require clean fluid to operate properly too, they don't like contaminated fluid at all--------very expensive!
