Default brake pedal pop

Hi there I'm the FNG to this forum,I went to lend a hand with my bro in laws 2000 Accord SE's brake problem, whenever the brakes are applied from any speed approx 10 MPH or faster and the car comes to a complete stop the brake pedal feels like it "pops" slightly it almost feels like a really late downshift but theres no change in RPM,motor mounts are still good, I replaced the slider boots and greased the sliders (they were completely dry), checked the pads and there almost brand new (Duralast Gold),rear shoes are still good, and theres no ABS MIL on (although I didnt scan or check measuring block values on system) I'm ASE certified in brakes but I really can't think of anything logical, thanks in advance

Drum shoes that are sticking slightly and then releasing under spring action might cause a discernible pop.

I've also heard a clutch pedal bushing sticking/slipping causing noise (BMW 3-series my daughter once had). Something similar might happen on brake pedal.

good luck

I checked the drums and they did look really dusty, maybe just a few squirts of brake lube on the backing plate might do the trick, or maybe just taking everything appart and dusting it off might help, my father in law said everytime he's changed the shoes one of the cups in the wheel cylinder pops out, anyone know a solution or a suggestion to this? I really dont feel like bleeding the system today, thanks again

Last drum brakes I worked on (2000 Dodge Ram PU), there was a metal tang that was bent to provide a retainer and prevent this.

good luck
