Thanks for everyone help.

A little puzzled though about why it does not drop on the initial push from a full return, but does drop on the second push.
Wouls this mean the cyilinder is not of a uniform diameter.

Any idea on where to get just the master cylinder and not the whole assemble. I can only find the whole assemble with a cost of about $150.

Also do you need to do the pushrod adjustment per the service manual if you are only changing the cylinder?

Any thoughs.
Thanks.

try here http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com/ . 102 dollars complete assembly ..if you use a hOnda factory brake master you DO NOT have to adjust the push rod... Remeber to bench bleed it before installing ...

Thanks.

I check the HandaAutomotiveParts.com and noticed that they list two different master cylinder for the EX (97628, 97629), and another two different ones for the LX (97626, 97627).

Any thoughts on how to tell which one I need. The description only says "Master Cylinder".

Thanks

There are only 2 types of master cylinders........1 , for cars with ABS ..the other for cars without ABS
depends on, if ur car has ABS or not you will know which one to get ..
I wrote the # down, give them a call , tell them wether ur car has ABS or not..

I have both wABS and w/oABS

There are 2 different revs for each, the current rev is the one with the higher number.

The older rev is being exhausted.

Hopefully the new rev does not require the pushrod to be messed with.

Hi All,

I've been reading this thread and just ordered a new master cyl from HondaPartsOnline so hopefully I will not have to deal with the pushrod adjustment.

This is for a '96 Accord EX 6 cyl with ABS. Question, after bench bleeding the master cyl and installing, I'm sure I will need to bleed the brakes. Is there any thing different I will need to do since the car has ABS when bleeding the brakes? The way I've always bled brakes is to start with the wheel farthese from the master cyl and have someone press on the brake pedal, open the bleeder valve, when the pedal hits the floor hold it while the bleeder valve is closed, repeat until fluid runs clean with no bubbles. (check master cyl fluid level often so it doesn't run out). Proceed with each wheel. Does this work for cars with ABS?

Thanks again!
