Default Brakes BREAKING In Now?

The Honda Accord Hybrid here lately, seems to have improved braking. I'm having to watch how hard I apply those brakes. With just a bit over 14kmiles, could the brakes just now be getting fully broken in?

Thanks-

depending on how hard you use them and how often it is possible that the rotors and pads are finally loosing their coatings and starting to grip better.... I would think it would have happened earlier but it's always possible that the rear pads/rotors (which use less braking force than the front) are finally broke in and that's where the added support is coming from.... Hard to say for certain but that's my theory on it

I realize that it doesn't get that cold down there in TX, but if the temp has dropped significantly, the electric components may be working more efficiently giving you added braking power ...... another theory.

Thanks, sir_nasty & falkore24. It has been pretty chilly of late. We hit 14 here one night, with a high today of around 56 or so. That may be it.Hopefully too, sir's theory is also right. Aside from lots of power, I also like to be able to stop that power just as well!

Getting back to that other thread, I've got a full tank now of Exxon 93, and it sure has been goosey lately! Guess the combination of weather and octane is a match for now.

Thanks again-

IMO, boycott Exxon/Mobile for ethical purposes. Here's some food for thought ..... my grandfather owned an Esso station back in the 60's and that gas would've been free to my mom and her sisters, yet my grandfather gave them Texaco cards. Also, they were not all that well off ...... my mom's first few cars were pieced together from the junkyard from different manufacturers! Her first had a 2x4 for a floorboard!

i believe your hybrid uses the ima motor to engine brake under light load conditions except when it's very cold or hot. the problem is i'm pretty sure it uses a regular old brake master cylinder. i forgot...next one in the shop i'll be sure to check it out.
the engine braking, of course, isn't as responsive as your regular brakes. on the civic hybrid it's pretty seamless and responsive though.

Interesting, AV6. May just be the cold weather.

Thanks-

oh yeah! it's facinating! the 06 civic hybrid actually has a two chamber master cylinder. it uses solenoids in it to 'simulate' brake pedal feel while the ima system is engine braking to recover some energy!! you aren't even applying hydraulic pressure to the brakes if it's a low pressure brake application but the solenoids make it feel like a traditional system...hehe
