broken harmonic balancer 97 v6 accord
the harmonic balancer on my 97 v6 accord is not driving my belts. motor starts crank moves harmonic balancer does not. so my question is how do I get the crankshaft bolt out without being able to hold every thing still with the pulley holder?

The holder "holds" the center part. The belts for the alt, ac, ect are driven by the outer part of the pulley - the rubber between the inner and outer part of the pulley must be gone.
If you are any where near a tb replacement - go ahead and make a weekend of it and knock it all out.

Air impact wrench and propane torch to heat bolt head worked for my 03 MDX w/ 3.5V6. Heat bolt head for 5 mins and hit w/ a good air impact.
If the harmonic balancer turns CW (most honda/acura v6's seem to turn CW), you can connect a 1/2" breaker bar to the retaining bolt and jam against frame/ground. Hit starter briefly to break bolt loose.
good luck

Holy CR@P, thank you so much Texas honda! I was over here trying to pull the balancer off my 3.5 odyssey. I tried everything from the proper holding tool to impact hammers and i couldnt get the bolt off. I then put the 24 inch half inch breaker bar on the sucker with a socket and rested the bar against the lower control arm. After hitting the starter 3 times, the 4th time broke the sucker loose. Thank you soo much!
