Broken Speedo 94 Honda Accord EX (Manual)
#11
The speedometer was broken the whole time, so it didn't matter that it was getting a good signal from the VSS.
The cruise control problem is new and should be diagnosed. This doesn't necessarily mean that the VSS has failed, you still have to diagnose the cruise control problem.
Does the check engine light turn on while driving?

Yes the engine light does come on when I'm driving but only after the engine shakes. It's like it's about to die, like a really harsh idle, and then it snaps out of it, and the CEL turns on and everything's good again. I thought it might be the spark plugs and so I replaced them. This problem also started about 6 months ago and at about that time my starter wouldn't turn over, just click. There are so many things I've replaced: hoses, transmission, clutch... My wheels are being eaten through and so I'm replacing the wheel bearings, struts, bushings and my driver side cv axle. The speedometer is another project. What can I do, gotta keep her going. Any help is greatly appreciated as I can only afford to DIM(do-it-myself).

LOL- sounds like a whole bunch of issues to troubleshoot. I had the speedo problem in my '94. I wasn't aware the PCB could be repaired, wish I would have known. I just put in a used speedo. Then 30,000 miles later totaled the car.

i had the same issue too back when i drove my car a few years back . i had to use my tach to figure out how fast i was going. i replaced my whole cluster where i bought it from a honda junkyard in washington st. and it's been good since then. i hope that you could get yours fix by either replacing the whole cluster or soldering something.good luck!

Back again
So, since the last time I've replaced my axles, bushings, wheel bearings, struts, rack and pinion and other misc. things. Now I'm back onto the speedo problem and have just pulled out the speedo from the panel. I pulled off the PCB and it looks fine. No exploded capacitors or loose solders. Someone had stated in another post that it can get stuck? Is there a way I can test the speedo or wiring to see if it's the problem? You guys have been very helpful. I guess I'll just buy a new cluster if that's really the problem.
