That is the abs unit. Suggest checking the brake fluid level in the ABS Unit - not the master cyl. If it is ok, then bleed the ABS Unit.

There is a white/yellowish (time makes the plastic change color) plastic tank on the abs unit. There is a black rubber cap, about the size of a quater on it. That is the abs fluid res.

On the side there are MIN/MAX marks. You need to see what the brake fluid level is in that tank. If low, remove that black cap, under that is a white/yellowish plug. Pull that plug and then add brake fluid.

There is a write up in the "Common DIY" sticky at the top of this section on how to bleed the abs unit. As you are checking the fluid in the abs res, you should see the bleeder screw that you will need to use to bleed the abs unit.

Also in that same "Coomon DIY" thread there is a "how to" on getting codes. Getting the abs codes on this gen is the same as getting the CEL codes.....or trans codes, if you have an auto trans.

PS- I moved your "overheating" thread to a new post.

Here, the red arrow is where you fill the unit.

The blue is where you will find the bleeder......about where the blue line goes to the front (right side of pic) of the abs res is where you will see the MIN/MAX marks on the plastic.
