Default Bypass heater hose repalcement 1991 EX

I've replaced the radiator on this car and now I think the bypass heater hose is leaking below the ERG valve. The heater hose was replaced about a month ago. Looks hard to get to. Does anyone have any tricks or advice for replacing this hose? The forward end of it looks accessible but the rear end under the ERG looks tough

Part #4, I think it bypasses the thermostat.

First, sorry I moved this to the proper section.

Not sure, been a long time since I was under the hood of a 4th gen. If you get the intake hose out of the way, can you not get under there with a pair of needle nose and get the clamp out of the way....then since you have to replace it, slice, tug, ect to get it off.

Then when replacing, I suggest "worm" clamps. Position it so an 8mm socket can snake to the clamp-look from under the car fo better access (proper safety of course).

There are a few 4th gen owners on here quite a bit that might be able to give better help.

The clamps on my 5th gen accord were easy to work with.

When I would squeeze the tabs on the clamp with my pliers, the clamp ends would interlock. Then there would be no tension on the clamp. I could slide off the clamp, then use my pliers on the clamp tabs, then squeeze/release and the clamp would have tension.

I think that your accord has the same clamps.

I think you're correct. There's "female" side and "male" tab however while changing out the radiator and loosening clamps they didn't automatically lock. I'll try an accessible one to see if I missed something.

Do you know if the hose is better tackled from underneath?

They do lock-it is a spring clamp from the factory but in tight spaces it can/is a pain to get them to lock. So squeeze and slide the clamp back onto the rubber hose.

Not sure, as I said it has been a long time since I looked under the hood of a 4th gen (EIDT: if you had a 3rd or 5th gen I'd be outside looking at it).....I'm hoping some of the active 4th gen members will chime in with the best how to. You might have to do some investigation on your own, try getting the air intake tube (air filter to throttle body) out of the way....if not try coming from the bottom. Again, going back with "worm" clamps will help.

I have the air tube off and that helps a lot with the forward part of the hose. The back one is the dog. I'll jack up the car tomorrow and see if it's easier to attack from below.

Poorman, those clamps will lock open. It made my life a lot easier when I installed my radiator hoses on my 95.

I'll try it with the radiator hose clamp, it's the most accessible.
