Default A/c compressor overhaul

Hi everyone, my first visit.
I am looking after a one owner 2000 Accord Coupe 2.0I Es Auto for a friend who lives overseas. The a/c compressor made strange noises and let out smoke the last time he started it to bring it to my place. He had to leave and so I am now investigating repair for him.
I think the compressor clutch has gone and have been trying to find a similar compressor on EBay to no avail, Honda dealers don’t have one, their best suggestion was to find a company who could overhaul/rebuild this compressor. I am near Southampton, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions. TIA

Was it smoking with the a/c turned on or turned off?

You can try spinning the clutch by using a 10mm (I think) ratchet on the nut dead center. If you hear noises from inside the compressor, then you have internal compressor damage that isn't easily repaired.

You can also remove the serpentine belt. See if the pulley spins freely obviously with the engine not running.
