So i have a 1999 honda accord 4cyl and just recently the buttons of the A/C heater went out but before it did that they would just blink and then shut off completely! Anyone have that problem and how can it be fixed?

Check fuses first. I assume this is manual heater/AC controls. Some diagnostics are available for ATC unit.

All lights going off indicates a common fault, damaged wire, or missing ground connection, or failed circuit board in the control unit.

You will need a shop manual to locate grounds and wires to inspect for damage. Check DIY forum, Online Manuals for a 98-02 manual or automanualsource.com for a download purchase for $22.

A used heater control panel can be found on ebay or car-part.com. I found them as low as $45 on car-part.

good luck

there are shop manuals in this A/V section for our car for free download.

the bulbs can die and are cheap to replace. hondapartsdeals has them at dealer cost.

blinking is weird, especially if all of them did that. i think that would point to a bad connection at the controller.

I don't have a 98 Manual, but in 94 manual the control panel is powered from under-dash fuse box, fuse 8 (7.5A).

Power delivery path for LED's is through the dimming circuit. A faulty dimming circuit (on control panel) would disable mode switches. This is black box in 94 manual, so don't know if it's replaceable or repairable. Probably new control panel would be necessary.

good lcuk

I have to ask....when the lights "blink" does the unit/system still work.......or when the lights go out, the ac (or whatever) stops working as well?

IMHO, pretty common that the PCB in the HVAC fails.....some replace, some add a jumper wire to the PCB and never have issues.

So again, when the lights "go out" does it stop working or is it just the lights?

To answer the fuse question - #3 in the drivers under dash fuse box and #13 in the pass under dash fuse box.

Yes those are the fuses....

Do you have the "auto" hvac unit or the regular?

And here is a thread to read: https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...g-50944/page3/
