Calculating Transmission wear 96' Honda Accord
(96' Honda Accord 250k Miles)
This is probably more of an academic question, than a technical one. I'm wondering if theirs any research or formula out there that can calculate a transmission gear failing at a specific time; based on driving habits, engine type, climate, driving environment and other contributing factors.
Does anyone have a line on where I could possibly find such research or formula? Or does anyone know of common transmission failures?
Such instances where if one thing was replaced, like a timing mechanism, the failure of the transmission could have been prevented.

I haven't seen anything like that. Transmission wear will not be related to engine timing. The 94-97 automatic transmissions lasted a long time. I think the most important thing is to change the transmission fluid with Honda ATF at the proper intervals.

If you are worried about it. Keep the fluid changed, I do mine every third oil change- so @ every 18K. Yes I change my oil @ every 6K based upon the reminder or milage, the book says 7.5K.
